Launching ceremony for the MISIF 15th Report was held on 1 July 2024 at The Majestic Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. The report was launched by YB Tuan Liew Chin Tong, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), and witnessed by around 70 stakeholders of the industry including Government officials (MITI, MIDA, CIDB, SIRIM, DOSM), association representatives, advertisers, the press, and MISIF members. Mr Lee Heng Guie of SERC Sdn Bhd presented key findings of the report including the latest ASC, production and import-export trends, issues and dynamics of the industry from the global, regional and local levels, current catchphrase of the industry – methods for “decarbonisation” and various facets of the “carbon tax”, and the way forward for the industry. As a strategic sector responsible for the development of the country, all parties (SERC, MISIF and MITI) agreed that there should be strong partnership between the authority and the industry in propelling the iron and steel industry moving forward.
