MISIF, Nickel Institute and International Molybdenum Association jointly organized a webinar titled “The Welding and Weld Repair of Stainless Steel and Nickel-base Alloys used in High Temperature Service” on 8th September 2021.
The webinar session was conducted by Dr. William F. Newell, Jr., PE, PEng, IWE, President of W. F. Newell & Associates, Inc., and Co-Founder/Vice President – Engineering of Euroweld, Ltd. He involved in welding engineering applications and consulting in the nuclear & fossil electric power and heavy industrial arenas for nearly 50 years, both domestic and internationally.
The webinar presentation provides details on welding and repair of stainless steel and nickel-base alloys used in high temperature service present many challenges. High temperature property requirements and service environment influence weld filler metal selection. Weld filler metal ferrite and use of fully austenitic welding materials contribute additional unique situations. Repairs and dissimilar welding also offer significant challenges. Each of these areas were discussed and examples presented to illustrate and assist in resolving or preventing many welding related issues encountered in high temperature service.
A total of 95 participants joined the webinar session from various steel related companies.
