2016 SEAISI / MISIF SEMINAR ON Management Tools for Operational Excellence

Each year, the South East Asia Iron and Steel Institute (SEAISI) collaborates with the national committees of its member countries (MISIF in Malaysia) to organize a travelling seminar on topics of interest to the steel community in the ASEAN region. This year, the seminar will be held in Malaysia as follows:

Theme: Management Tools for Operational Excellence

Operational Excellence is defined as a management philosophy that focuses on the application of a variety of principles, systems and tools towards sustainable improvement throughout the organization. The process involves focusing on the need of customers, empowering employees, optimizing or improving the existing activities in the workplace. The model of Operational Excellence for each organization may vary, depending on the organization’s strategy, people, processes and technology.

2015 ASEAN Iron And Steel Sustainability Forum, 30 November – 2 December 2015, Kuala Lumpur

We wish to inform that the 2015 ASEAN Iron and Steel Sustainability Forum, will be held from 30 November – 2 December 2015 at the Istana Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. The event is organized by the South East Asia Iron and Steel Institute (SEAISI) and co-hosted by the Malaysian Iron and Steel Industry Federation (MISIF). The Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) is also playing a significant role in this forum as Supporting Organisation. Yang Berbahagia Tan Sri Dr. Ir. Ahmad Tajuddin Ali, FASc, CIDB Chairman, will be the forum Keynote Speaker.

The forum is being held annually by rotation basis in one of the six ASEAN member-countries of ASEAN Iron and Steel Council (AISC). The Malaysian Iron and Steel Industry Federation (MISIF), as a member and representative National Committee of AISC/SEAISI, is supporting and assisting AISC/SEAISI with the organisation of this event this year since it will be hosted in Malaysia. This event is widely recognized and participated by major players associated with the iron and steel industry in the Asia Pacific region. Last year’s event in Singapore attracted around 200 delegates from 12 countries.

The general theme of this forum is the Sustainable Development of the Iron and Steel Industry in ASEAN. However, for this year’s event, we have decided to focus on the Construction Sector. The forum preliminary programme and the registration form for MISIF members (special applicable rates) are attached for your perusal. A field visit to CIDB Malaysia’s facilities (CREAM and IBS) and Southern Steel Mesh Sdn Bhd for interested participants has also been arranged on 2 December 2015.

Joint MISIF / Nickel Institute Stainless Steel In Architecture And Construction Seminar - 23 November 2015, Shah Alam, Selangor


We are pleased to inform that MISIF and the Nickel Institute (NI) are jointly organizing the “Stainless Steel in Architecture and Construction Seminar” on 23 November 2015 at the Concorde Hotel, Shah Alam, Selangor to promote wider applications for stainless steels as a material. MISIF has been collaborating regularly with the Nickel Institute, which is based in Belgium, in the conduct of workshops and courses relating to the application of stainless steel in the various sectors.

This time around, the team from NI will be running a Seminar on Stainless Steel in Architecture and Construction. The seminar will be facilitated by Dr. Graham A. Sussex, the Technical Specialist of NI.

MISIF 2015 Steel Industry Annual Dinner - 22 October 2015


We are pleased to inform that the Malaysian Iron and Steel Industry Federation (MISIF) 2015 Steel Industry Annual Dinner will be held on Thursday, 22 October 2015 in the Grand Lagoon Ballroom, Sunway Resort Hotel, Bandar Sunway, Petaling Jaya, Selangor. YB Dato’ Seri Ong Ka Chuan, the newly-appointed Minister II of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry has been invited as the Guest-of-Honour.

The annual dinner will be an excellent occasion to get together and renew business contacts as well as to enhance networking opportunities. We expect about 600-strong guests (including senior officials from government ministries, agencies and leaders of industry associations) and members of the steel community will attend this premier function. We therefore wish to formally invite your esteem organization to participate in this event (details are attached herewith) by booking dinner table/tables for your staff, friends and associates.

MISIF Golf Invitational Challenge 2015

The Malaysian Iron and Steel Industry Federation (MISIF) is pleased to invite you and your organisation to participate in the MISIF GOLF INVITATIONAL CHALLENGE 2015 scheduled on:

Venue: Kelab Golf Perkhidmatan Awam (KGPA), Bukit Kiara, Off Jalan Damansara, 60000 Kuala Lumpur

The Golf Invitational Challenge is now open for registration and you are welcome to register your own self as well as colleagues, associates and friends for this wholesome sporting-cum-social event. Participation on flight basis (i.e. registration of 4 golfers playing in the same flight) is strongly encouraged.

A light breakfast will be served before the game. After the game, lunch will be held at the Clubhouse followed by the prize-giving ceremony. We are hopeful that with the generous support of everyone, there will be attractive complimentary items for all participants through the goodies bag as well as delightful prizes to be won. Please avail to the many sponsorship opportunities in connection to the golf game. Details have been provided in the registration/sponsorship leaflet attached. A standard registration fee of RM500.00 + 6% GST will be charged per golfer. As encouraged earlier, the fee per flight of four golfers is RM2000.00 + 6% GST. Sponsorship of tee-holes is also available. Again, kindly refer to the registration/sponsorship leaflet for details and follow-up action.
