We are pleased to inform that the Malaysian Iron and Steel Industry Federation (MISIF) is organizing the MISIF Trade Forum on the Malaysian Iron and Steel Industry and MISIF 2017 Steel Industry Annual Dinner on 26 October 2017 at the Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa, Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

The theme of this half-day afternoon forum is “The Status, Challenges and Opportunities for the Malaysian Iron and Steel Industry”. The forum aims to update all stakeholders in Malaysia on the status, challenges and aspirations of the domestic steel industry vis-à-vis regional and global developments. The first announcement brochure detailing the forum registration procedure, programme and other useful information are attached for your further action.

In conjunction with this forum, MISIF is also taking the opportunity to launch the “14th Edition of the MISIF Directory 2017/18”. The main feature of the directory is a listing of the profile of MISIF members. It is the core part of the book that promotes the products and services of member companies. We have provided more details on this publication under separate cover.

The MISIF 2017 Steel Industry Annual Dinner will be held immediately after the forum on the same day/venue. The annual dinner is an occasion to get together and renew business contacts as well as to enhance networking opportunities. The Malaysian Minister of International Trade and Industry II, YB Dato’ Seri Ong Ka Chuan is the Guest-of-Honour. We seek your kind support to book dinner table/tables. We expect about 600-strong guests and members of the steel community will attend this premier function. We also wish to inform that one of the delightful programme for the evening will be the “Lucky Draw”. As such, we welcome any contributions (cash or kind) for the lucky draw prizes.

MISIF GOLF INVITATIONAL CHALLENGE 2017

The Malaysian Iron and Steel Industry Federation (MISIF) is pleased to invite you and your organisation to participate in the MISIF GOLF INVITATIONAL CHALLENGE 2017 scheduled on:

The Golf Invitational Challenge is now open for registration and you are welcome to register your own self as well as colleagues, associates and friends for this wholesome sporting-cum-social event. Participation on flight basis (i.e. registration of 4 golfers playing in the same flight) is strongly encouraged.

A light breakfast will be served before the game. After the game, lunch will be held at the Clubhouse followed by the prize-giving ceremony. We are hopeful that with the generous support of everyone, there will be attractive complimentary items for all participants through the goodies bag as well as delightful prizes to be won. Please avail to the many sponsorship opportunities in connection to the golf game. Details have been provided in the registration/sponsorship leaflet attached. Any contributions (cash or kind) for prizes and lucky draws will be most welcome.

A standard registration fee of RM500.00 + 6% GST will be charged per golfer. As encouraged earlier, the fee per flight of four golfers is RM2000.00 + 6% GST. Sponsorship of tee-holes is also available. Again, kindly refer to the registration/sponsorship leaflet for details and follow-up action.

JOINT MISIF / NICKEL INSTITUTE / INTERNATIONAL MOLYBDENUM ASSOCIATION STAINLESS STEEL WORKSHOPS, 25 & 26 APRIL 2017 (HRDF - CLAIMABLE)

We are pleased to inform that MISIF, Nickel Institute (NI) and the National Molybdenum Association are jointly organizing the “Stainless Steel for Food and Hygienic Service: Specifications and Use” on 25 April 2017 and “Quality Welding Stainless Steel” on 26 April 2017 at the Concorde Hotel, Shah Alam, Selangor to promote wider applications for stainless steels as a material.

 

MISIF has been collaborating regularly with the Nickel Institute, which is based in Belgium, and the National Molybdenum Association in the conduct of workshops and courses relating to the application of stainless steel in the various sectors. The seminar will be facilitated by Dr. Graham A. Sussex, the Technical Specialist of NI.

Each year, the South East Asia Iron and Steel Institute (SEAISI) collaborates with the national committees of its member countries (MISIF in Malaysia) to organize a travelling seminar on topics of interest to the steel community in the ASEAN region. This year, the seminar will be held in Malaysia as follows:

The iron and steel industry is facing a challenging market situation such as overcapacity, slowing end markets, social pressure to reduce the carbon emission, rising energy costs, fluctuating raw material prices and so on. Therefore, steelmakers have to adopt various innovative approaches in order to sustain or to increase their competitiveness in the industry. One of them is to optimize the processes through process automation which could offer benefits of maintaining, the consistency in process parameters, improving plant availability, minimizing human errors, reducing wastes or rejection, increasing the safety of human and equipment, etc. besides, product quality is also crucial to sustaining the market competitiveness. Enhancement of quality assurance is a way to preventing delivery of defective products to the customers. It comprises many activities within the organization to fulfill the products’ or customers’ requirement.
